Wondering what to do with the last bits from this summer's garden?
A little bit of celery here, a few carrots there and a stray onion can become a wonderful helpmate in the Winter Kitchen called Verdurette! Its a kind of drystock that requires no refrigeration, and can be stored in a glass jar on your countertop all year long. Nice, huh???
Every summer's end, our family marks the passing of the gardening season by gathering up the ends of the harvest and making a few Verdurettes.
They are very inexpensive, easy to make and very versatile!
You can make ones with different flavor combinations to suit your needs and they can be bases for soups, sauces, sa
lsas, dressings or even b for meats!
If you are curious, your friendly neighborhood Garden Club folks are going to be doing
a Verdurette DEMO
at theLASTFarmers' Market this Friday from 430-5ish!
We'll also have a discussion about how folks now and before stored foods
without refrigeration or canning...
...come join the conversation!!
